The goal is to provide both functional knowledge of the experimental paradigms that have been used to investigate various psychological concepts, and to delve into the theories that these experimental paradigms have enabled psychologists to develop.

-  Perception: Vision, audition, cross-modal
                                           
-  Memory : Memory models, neuropsychology of memory
                           
-  Thinking and Reasoning : In this part of the course students will be familiarized with key approaches and debates in the reasoning field. Topics that will be covered include the mental logic vs mental models approach to reasoning and the debate with respect to the nature of the basic representations underlying human thought. A second course block will give an overview of the “Heuristics and Biases” approach, the competing Ecological Rationality view, and resulting rationality debate. In a final block the Dual Process approach to reasoning will be covered. Students will be introduced to the key dual process principles, main applications, and critiques.

  • Méthodologie – Sciences cognitives – M1/S2-M2/S4
    Suivi et validation – semestriel hebdomadaire = 6 ECTS
    MCC – exposé oral, examen

Undergraduate-level education in cognitive psychology. This prerequisite can be met in different ways: having an undergraduate degree in psychology or cognitive science, reading, MOOC, CO3. Students who have undergraduate training in any experimental science may be authorized to take the course after catching up some references. Contact the course coordinator to see if you have the prerequisites.
